Saturday 12:24
Light breeze under 5 MPH from S-SE, some high haze clouds and 27 Degrees
Spectacular
1:08 Update , the mild southerly flow has given way to a stronger northerly breeze. The leaves in the Poplar(trembling Aspen) well they are trembling.
Don’t let that scare you away something with a little less wing like an Elio can handle these breezes nicely.
2 PM Update
Some more Elio launches and in the mean time there is a continues hi pitched squeeling from over in the woods to my left , in the trees as shown.
After landing I had a look and see a figure perched up on top of one of those spruce trees.
I walked towards the woods and saw it was a Hawk perhaps 12 inch high, and he was doing all the calling.
I had heard this before , but now see what makes these noises. I clapped two or three times and he left towards the east over the woods and began circling, he was able to get in two or three turns and get up above the forest double the height of the trees.
Then I saw him tuck his wings, come towards me between the trees , swing by 10 feet above my head I suppose, I didn’t dare look up.
What a rush of air and wooshing sound as he roared by, then gracefully spread his wings to slow down, head west and back over the trees.
Woooooow, surely he won’t do that again. Turns out he did this three times, the last time I tossed my hat up to meet him. No I didn’t catch him. I headed home and got a camera, this would be interesting to tape, when I got back he was no longer around. Perhaps later, I have the camera with me.
Look closely an Eagle looking to get out
4:30 PM The skies have opened up, good thing there’s no campers here, they may be getting wet. The winch and line is still out there, I’ve covered the winch however as I write this the sun is beating thru the rain, the eastern sky will soon have a huge rainbow with both ends viseble.

A splash of Rain

Thunder beckoning

There was a Faint Rainbow
See it all in the Waughs River Valley, where were you?
