Each wing side of the Wiki is composed of 3 panels joined with plywood joiners. The wings attach to the sides of the fuselage with a 5 mm rod and a dihedral pin, The LE and TE of the wings are balsa. The wings are build traditional style, ie all built up wood , no CF tube spar. There is a Megalight Version which substitutes balsa in the fuse for the plywood and drops the spoilers. Each panels root ribs are canted inward to create the dihedral as seen on the plans.
As with all these 2 M F3L planes, care must be taken with handling as there are many small pieces
Also I’d recommend a good choice of boxes be made available to hold the various parts as the build progresses. Unique to the Wiki is the trapezoidal wing rib construction, imparting significant torsional strength
megalight kit, includes cord for the tail controllight kits, I see elsewhere some of these kits are building at below 400 Grams, pretty impressiveI chose to start with the tip panels, aft spar rib parts interlock with slots, I passed some sandpaper along the edges before assembling, the tip consists of two pieces I laminated together with tite bondtake some time to postion the spar mateial as well as the lower TE sheet in their correct position and the ribs will set in nicelythe 3 part balsa shear web is tapered, location is important, upper trailing edge sheeting is not glued at this time. I like to do that later before panels get glued together and use a long set epoxy to firm up the trailing edge after final sandingmiddle to tip panel joiner, I fashioned windows between the upper and lower spars in both panels thru the balsa root rib. the lite ply joiners are strengthened with ply doubblersthe spoiler box is built with a aft and inward side, and then framed against the root rib and the spar. for mounting the servo I will glue some blocks in placetwo tow hook options includedinner panel right side, ballast box pre assembled and glued to ply aft shear webthe wiki has a small window to access the servos, I glued 3 rails in place to affix the servos, and then secured the push rod tubes, the plan is to place the receiver behind the servos, and a 1 cell 550 mah lipo forward. consider room for the tow hook below the push rods, and aft of the wing rod, place tow hook in place before gluing the bottom plywoodTip panel, before gluing to center panel, the 3 panels for each wing side can be sanded, especially the LE and TE to profile before gluing to respective panels. I always found it much easier then handling a large panel for sanding, final sanding and blend is then much easierInfo exists on the plans for the vertical lift at each panel join in order to give the correct EDA, I used that info to glue the panels together. The spar is swept back ,thus I found myself assembling panels over a straight line, then using an offset I measured from the plans, I set a square in place to pick up the spar aft edge as the glue set. This Wiki builds very much like a Nostalgia model from 50 years ago
