The area encircled is a detail that I need to deal with. Thinking some leather with a bit of padding which is on a plate and removable. Possibly this could be held snug with the button in the middle and also serves to hold the rear of the canopy secure.

I like the brown and the tan, perhaps the brown, for the plug on the end of the boom.
