Never heard of one , either did I until app 9 months ago.<\/p>\n

It’s a V tail truss style build on the fuselage and these were never kitted, however plans were available for scratch building.<\/p>\n

There are Cottage Industry Kits available today though and I have a set of stabs here to deal with from one of these kits,\u00a0 as they are missing significant Torsional Rigidity, and may fail if they begin to flutter.<\/p>\n

It appears the 1\/16 by 1\/4 spar is basswood, which can be more like a noodle then spruce and with little structure around it I would choose spruce for the spar. The LE and TE are built up “sandwich”, balsa, basswood?,\u00a0 and the diagonal strips are 1\/16 x 1\/4 balsa, the diagonals where CA’d , matter of fact I believe the entire build was done with thin CA.<\/p><\/div>\n

I have one stab on a jig and have measured the deflection. I will use this info later to draw a comparison after I reinforce the stab. The key is I want to be repetitive with this setup, so I have marked some of my pieces.<\/p>\n

I have 14G or so of weight and we shall see how this deflects when I beef up the structure.<\/p>\n

I noted the deflection as 7\/16″ with the Ultrakote in place<\/p><\/div>\n

May 07<\/p>\n

After sheeting both sides from the rear side of the LE to the center of the spar, as well as adding ribs , 1\/16 ” spaced 2 ” apart starting from the inboard end sheet, I believe there were 7 .<\/p>\n

Total deflection was 4\/16 ”<\/p>\n

The deflection of the stab as built and covered\u00a0 was 7\/16″<\/p>\n

The deflection uncovered and as built was 11\/16 ”<\/p>\n

The weight was 32.6 G\u00a0 1.15 OZ<\/p>\n
